I have written to Sir Austen

Chamberlain saying that I strongly sympathise

mirs

with the Governor's anxiety and expressing

the hope that whatever may be the decision

on the subject of the Bill, it will be

found possible to satisfy the demands of

Hong Kong, and particularly of Hong Kong

University.

You may wish that your Committee

should consider the enclosed telegram in

conjunction with the despatch which has

already been circulated to them, and

if 80,

I should certainly have have no objection.

It would be of assistance to me if you

could let me know at an early date the

views which you and your Committee take

on the Governor's representations.

up.
