Before saying "good-bye" Ir. Jong would like once more to assure the Hong Kong Government of his desire to restore the old friendly relations between Hong Kong and Canton, and of his readiness to co-operate with the Hong Kong Government. THE COLONIAL SECRETARY again thanks Mr. Jong for his call, and
expresses his pleasure at meeting him. He reciprocates the friendly sentiments ir. Jong has expressed. The Hong Kong Government has on many occasions assured the Canton Government of its willingness to co-operate and assist; and it only xxix remains for the Canton Government to ask. Mr. Wong's stay in the Colony being so short, he (the Colonial Secretary) is denied the pleasure of extending to him any social courtesy, but he hopes that lr. Jong will give him an opportunity to do
this soon.
After the interview Mr. long and lir. Chan Shu-yan who was Chief Secretary to the Nationalist Government in Canton in 1925-1926, called on Dr. Kotewall at his house, where they had tea and a very friendly conversation; and both Ir. long and Ir. Chan promised their whole-hearted co-operation with Hong
Kong.
