with the exception of those already located in those areas,

We shall be glad of your early reply as to whether

our suggestion is right, and we must beg your pardon for

having not made a proper selection of words on account of

the critical situation.

Reply from leaders in Nanking.

General Fung,

Lok Yeung,

Your telegram dated the 14th noted.

While we are

pressing hard our Northern Expedition, Wuhan has suddenly

resolved to send troops to the East and even to the south,

causing us much anxiety. We cannot bear to tolerate their

laying waste our work, and if an adequate defence is not

made, we shall not be able to reta in our troops in the

North. Fortunately you have maintained justice, made careful investigations as what is wrong or right, and given

an earnest warning as to the pros and cons of the situation

in the hope that those who are fanatical may be brought to

their senses. How can we help appreciating this?

But we have learned that Kr. Wong has sent you a

reply on the 22nd stating that Nanking can never be

forgiven. We have also been told that they have recently

been instructed by the 3rd Internationale to change all

their slogans into "Opposition against the Communists and

the overthrow of Tseung". If Tseung can be overthrown by

offering opposition to Communism, then union with the

Communists
