be held in the place where the Nationalist Government exists. Therefore the proposed Conference at Kai-fang should be, as we have resolved, put up for discussion. If the other party agrees, we can send delegates also but the discussion may be treated as not at a formal

conference.

(4) If unification can be attained by amicable arrange-

ments, war may be avoided and we appreciate your suggestions very much.

The above four arrangements are resolved upon by us. Comrade Sung (Hing Ling) is absent on a trip to see her mother, and Comrade Ho (Heung Ying) is on leave for a fortnight to recruit her health at Lo Shan; therefore their signatures are not down on this. Please show this telegram to Kr. Tsui Kwai Lung (Tsui Him) and Mr. Hung Yung Chi (Hung Tseung Hi).

Telegram from Wong Ching Wai in Wuhan, dated the 24th July (1927) in reply to the telegram of Nanking dated the 18th forwarded to him by Fung (Yuk Tseung).

I have received your telegram of the 22nd forwarding to me a telegram of lir. Wu (Hon Man), Nau (Wing Kin) and Mr. Ng (King Hang) dated the 18th, and I beg to give you a reply as follows:-

I have not had military power all my life: why should I have been mentioned together with Tseung (Kai Shek). Moreover I have only had disagreement with Tseung on public affairs, and have no individual and personal

grudge
