(1) The Agreement to be entered into shall be binding on all
the steamers under the control of the Hong Kong Canton &
Macao Steamboat Co. Ltd., and farmed out by them to Chinese
merchants, namely the six vessls "Lungshan", "Taishan",
"Kinshan", "Fatshan", "Sui An", and "Sui Tai" as well as any
other steamers which may hereafter be added to the Company's
fleet.
(2) In that during the period in which this Union was under- going a reorganisation the Hong Kong Canton & Macao Steamboat Co. Ltd., taking advantage of the closing up of the Seamen's
Union by the Hong Kong Government, had without reason dismissed
our fellow members working on its steamers thus forming a
breach of the agreement entered into between the two parties.
this Union has come to the conclusion that the Company had
deliberately sought to break their agreement and that this being the case, it is necessary when the present is made to have same signed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the
British Consul as witnesses. Statements shall be inserted
in Chinese and Foreign (English) Newspapers by both parties
announcing their intention to carry out the terms of the agreement for the future.
(3) All seamen who had recently been dismissed shall be put
back to their jobs if their agreements with the Company have
not actually expired.
(4) Upon the expiration of the agreements of any fellow members working on the steamers, the Company shall serve this Union with notices seven days beforehand in order that fresh
seamen be got ready to take their place.
(5) The Company shall see to it that hereafter no interference with the Branch Office and Club already established on board
the steamers nor with our fellow members of carrying out
propaganda
