a great distance, but Wuhan is not far away, and you may have
heard something about it. Have any peasants or workmen been
allowed to take part in the Wuhan Government? This shows
that the Communists have only made use of the peasants and
workmen as their tools to cause disturbances in China. The
Communists directly and Russia indirectly have seized the
administrative power in China. Since the Communists have
now caused so much disturbance to our Nationals we must rise
to suppress them. Our Revolution was originally intended to secure us equality and freedom. Equality may be of two kinds,
as regards the law and as regards morals. As regards freedom,
that of belief is the most important. It cannot be said
that we now have freedom of belief. If the Communists are
allowed freedom, we shall be deprived of ours, and they will sacrifice ours to secure theirs. Again, though we have the problem before us of opposing Communism, we have still to overthrow all militarists, corrupt and avaricous officials
and local rascals. All such tasks should be shouldered by
the whole Chinese people. In days gone by Chekiang was
known as the birthplace of many heroes and patriots, and many of the modern heroes and patriots were born there. Generalissimo Tseung is the greatest modern hero and patriot, without whom our Revolution could not have been so successful
and without whom we could not have won such great victories
as we have achieved. Kuchow is an important place in Chekiang, and its population is very enlightened. You should organize yourselves under the guidance of the
Kuomintang Department in this District, and march forward
in the path of the Kuomintang.
