Translation.

(Extract from wa Kiu Yat Po, Hong Kong.

23rd May, 1927)

Li Lit Kwan does not wish China to become a Second

Mongolia.

He delivered a speech at Ku Chow seriously denouncing

Communism.

Communism is a despotic Socialism.

The Communists desire to turn China into another

Mongolia, and to make us Chinese slaves to Russia.

They have made the peasants and workmen their tools

in order to create disturbances in China.

If we allow the Communists freedom, we shall be deprivedl

of our own.

Li Lit Kwan, Chairman of the Provincial Goverment

in Kiangsi, passed through Kuchow in the afternoon of the

6th instant on his way to Nanking on some Government

business. The various associations in Kuchow held a Grand

Mass Meeting at the Kuomintang Department to welcome him,

and Li made a speech which we now publish below:-

"I was born and brought up in Kiangsi. This is

the first time I have been to Chekiang, a very worthy province in history. I came here in order to recruit my

health at Sai Wu, and then to proceed to Nanking on business,

Now the Kuomintang Department has convened a grand meeting

of the masses to welcome me on passing through your

District. I am very pleased with it, but I cannot be free

from some mortification. For the past several hundred

years China has been in a state of terror. The conquest by Manchuria was the first source of terror, the opening of

China
