Except for an incident connected with the "Lung Man" at

Shataukok there is nothing to report. The incident referred to

occurred on the 18th inst. in that date, about 11.30 hrs. 12

of the "Lung Man", one armed with a revolver and the rest with

rifles, attempted to pass down the boundary path towards the

railway terminus, but were prevented by our picquet. A few

tense minutes followed. The "Lfing Len" loaded their rifles as

did the picquet which also fixed bayonets. Then the "Lung Man"

who had the revolver, and who was evidently the person in

charge, made an attempt to pass the picquet, but was stopped

by the Non-Commissioned Ufficer bringing his rifle to the "aim".

Katters looked serious, but at this moment the Head of the

黄振華

"Lung Ken", Wong Chun Wa, appeared on the scene. He appeared to

be very angry and asked the Indian Interpreter why his men had

been stopped from going down the path. Upon the Indien

Interpreter explaining his orders, Wong Chun Wa repeated his

old arguments about the path being half Chinese and half British,

and that his men had the same right to patrol it as had the

沙头角 picquet. He demanded to see the Ufficer-in-Charge, Shataukok.

Acting Sub-Inspector Fender was informed and went and saw Wong

Chun Wa who, after some more argument, said he did not wish to

create any trouble and promised to warn his men against

attempting to patrol the path. At the end of the interview

Wong Chun Wa became quite affable and asked Acting Sub-

Fender Inspector t to see the Assistant Superintendent of Police (New

Territories about getting him a permit enabling him to travel

direct through British territory between Shataukok and Sham

till Chun. On being informed of this I instructed Acting Sub-Insp.

Fender to tell Wong Chun Wa, that as in ordinary circumstances

there were no restrictions on Chinese entering or travelling

through our territory a permit, such as asked for, was unnecessary.
