Mr. E. Grant Smith, manager in Canton of
Messrs Dodwell and Company, Limited, forwarded on the
21st April, 1927, to Mr. T.G. Weall, the Company's
manager in Hong Kong, the enclosed ten photographs.
He obtained them from a Canton photographer, who said
that they represent the procession which passed along
Shakee on the 25th June, 1925, and resulted in the so-
called Shakee-Shamien incident, and also the funeral of
the Chinese killed in that incident.
2. I attach notes by Mr. Megarry on each photo-
graph and also the translation of the Chinese characters
which appear on the photographs.
