Enclosure No.4.

104

Honourable Captain Superintendent of Police,

南頭

1. NAM TAT

FRONTIER INCIDENTS.

Information received by me from a reliable source

西

yesterday shows that a little war is now in progress in the SAI LỠ DISTRICT, between the regular troops from NAM TAU and a

combined "Red" force of the local "Peasant Army" and bandits.

SAI LO, which is directly north of NAM TAU, has long been

notorious as the haunt of pirates and bandits, whose rendezvous

白頭岡

is said to be the large village of PAK TAU KONG.

That there has been a severe engagement between a force

of about 700 regular troops and a force of "Reds" estimated at

1,000, and that the regulars are being re-inforced by troops

till

from SHAM CHUN and alsewhere, is the sole extent of my

information.

2. SHALE CHUN

The situation is more or less normal. Part

of the garrison has gone to SAI LO (See 1).

沙頭角

3. SHATAUKOK

Chinese Shatauko is now liberally placarded

農民

with anti-Red posters, put up by the "Lung Lian who sean to

羊城

have accepted the new situation in Canton.

4. LIRE BAY

There has been no further trouble with the

Chinese Authorities, i.e. no complaints have been received of

沙魚涌

any attempts by the Sha U Chung, Tip Fuk or Na O officials to

levy boat licence fees.
