communications by water were suspended. On the 15th, many of the dangerous elements were arrested, mostly under the guidance of our comrades in the City Kuomintang Department and the Canton Mechanics' Union. Many book-stores for reactionary propaganda were closed down, and many arms of various reactionary associations were seized. In Pun Tong and Wong Sha several reactionary associations of peasants were dissolved, and simultaneously the various Garri son Commissioners were directed in a secret message from the Generalissimo's Headquarters to make arrests in their own di stricts. Unexpectedly Chan Ka Yau revolted in the Nor- thern Region, and General Tsin has marched out to suppress him in conjunction with the hwangsi troops; and Chan has

now retreated out of Canton. We have discovered the in-

trigues of the Communists through cen sorship of po stal letters and telegrams, and the worst of them was that they had misled many young men to take part inpropaganda oppos- ing us. It is a pity that the students have been young and ignorant and have thus been easily made fools of. (9) Then Comrade Cheung Ching Yu reported what he had witnessed in Wuhan, Nanking and Shanghai; Comrade Wu Chun Lam, Representative of the Branch Political Department, gave an advisory lecture; Deputy Keung Yuk Shang submitted a report on Kuomintang affairs; Deputy Man So Chung made a revelation of the Communist intrigues; and Tang Man Yi representative of the Central Military and Political Academy delivered a speech. All the lectures were very excellent and impressive and were much applauded by all present. (10) Four resolutions were passed at the meeting:

(a) Radically to purge the Party of all members who

hold also membership in the Communist Party. (b) To wire compliments to all officers and soldiers

at the front.
