Conference in Celebration of the Inauguration of

the won tung Special District Kuomintang Department under the Special Kuomintang Department of the General-

issimo's Headquarters.

(6) The Executive Committee and the members of the Inspectorate pledged their allegiance and took up their posts. Chu Ka Wa then made a political report, saying:

"Since the Central kuomintang Department and National Govemment have been seized by the Communists on their removal to Wuhan, serious political changes have taken place, and our troops have therefore been held up on reaching the Chang Kiang. Therefore our loyal and faithful members of the Kuomintang have been compelled to effect a Party Purification Movement. Now the Nan- king Government has been established, a new Government Council has been elected, and due notifications have

been issued on various matters. The Provincial Govern-

ments of Chekiang and Kiangsu have also been re-organi sed. Of late changes have taken place in Wuhan too and Party Purification Movements have been promoted by many of our comrades. Similar movements have been made in Nan- chang. We are now unified and shall be able to accom- plish our Northern Expeditions."

(7) Next Li Chai Sham, Chief of Staff, reported on the military situation and said,

"As we know, our Northern Expedition, at the speed with which it was developing, would have reached Peking long ago, had not trouble been caused by the Communists. In reporting on the military position I have to express deep regret on this account. Let me relate to you the intrigues of the Communists. They are very serious and
