the telegram suggested that I should be coming back to Canton in about a month. The next ship from Canton to Vladivostock is the S.S. Georgie but it does not arrive at Canton until the 19th and so I booked passages for myself and family per S.S. Preussan to Shanghai via Hong Kong. It was arranged that we come to Hong Kong and go straight on board the Preussen but on arrival we found that the ship is not yet in and does not
leave Hong Kong until 8th May, 1927. We stayed last night at
the Savoy Hotel. I hold U.S.S.R. Passport issued to me at Moscow 3rd March, 1926 and renewed at Canton until 3rd March
1928, with British visa "To Shanghai, in direct transit
only, through Hong Kong" dated Canton 3rd May, 1927.
