Enclosure No. 5.

Precis.

129

(Extract from Kwok Man San Man, Canton, 7th March, 1927)

Ufficials engaged in administrative work protract

their joint conference -

Discussion of measures to be taken to oppose the

despatch of British troops to China.

Five important telegrams passed.

At 2 p.m. on the 5th March, the Propaganda

Sub-Committee of the General Political Department for

opposing the despatch of British troops to China convened

in the Provincial Government's Hall of Ceremony a pro-

tracted joint conference of the Representatives of various associations in Kwong Tung. There were present Representatives from the Political Departments in the various Armies and Divisions, the All-China Commercial Association, the All-Hong Kong Labour Association, the Seamen's Union, the Transportation Union, &c. - 50 in all.

Sun Ping Man presided, and on opening the Conference said, "The sphere of influence of our Government has been

extended to the Yangtse, and our Northern expedition will before long reach Shanghai. The Imperialists of various countries, in order to maintain their privileges, have been doing their utmost to back up their tame dogs, the militarists, so as to check the progress of our Revolutionary Army. As we have seen, the British Imperial- ists have kept on sending contingents of their troops to China and made every preparation to support the rebel Sun Chuen Fang in war. At the present crisis, we Revolu- tionaries at the rear should rise in a body to keep the movements of the British Imperialists under observation and devise means for the support of our expedition at the front. We should also make clear to all our anti-Imperial-

ist attitude.'
