Translation

(Extract from Kwok Man San Man, Canton, 17th March, 1927).

The facts in regard to the suppression by the Hong

Kong Imperialists of the Grand Demonstration held in

mory of our President on the occasion of the 2nd

Anniversary of his death.

Deliberately broken up by the British Imperialists.

Mass Gathering of over 100 000 maintain good order.

The Hong Kong Government send amed troops and

policemen to surround the meeting place.

Since the Grand Demonstration planned by the

Kuomintang members of various classes in Hong Kong

together with all Chinese there to commemorate our

President on the occasion of the 2nd Anniversary of

his death was prohibited by the Hong Kong Government

without good reason, repre sentatives were sent to

Canton to ask the Foreign Office to make a protest.

And in spite of the stringent measures taken by the Imperialists to keep the promoters under observation,

they were not discouraged but made every preparation

for the Demonstration.

On the evening of the 9th March the organisers

of the Grand Commemoration Demonstration convened a

general meeting of all officers to di scuss procedure. It happened that the representatives who had been to Canton had returned and they made a detailed report

of what had been done in the Foreign Office. It was also reported that the Foreign Office had agreed to make a reasoned protest and would not allow our Chinese in Hong Kong to labour under such unreasonable restrictions and would give us its utmost support.

On learning this the organisers were much encouraged
