As to the 2nd charge against us of having made

an alliance with the troops of Mukden and Shangtung, i.e.

of conspiring with our enemies, all of you fellow-comrades

must be well aware of the real position and it is un-

necessary for me to answer the charge. Whilst our members

in Tuhan are disseminating such malicious rumours, our

soldiers are daily fighting a life and death struggle

against those very Mukden and Shangtung troops. This is

not a matter of much importance to me, but it is not

calculated to encourage our solders at the front. If

it is my wish, as is alleged, to become an allyof Mukden

and Shangtung, why am I still fighting against them ?

Such rumours have been disseminated in order to make

mischief in our National Revolutionary Army and render

it a failure. Can we continue to recognise men who circu-

late such rumours as fellow-members of ours? By the ir

conduct they are not only hindering my own part in the

Revolution, but also acting counter to the whole Nationalist

Revolution. Can they still deny that they are reactionaries?

Need I add anything more to show it? While our soldiers at the front are fighting every day against Mukden and Shangtung, yet our members at Wuhan constantly spread rumours alleging that on the contrary we have made friends with Mukden and Shangtung. It is possible to believe that anyone could be so evilly-disposed and wrong-headed?

That any member of ours could speak so irresponsibly? That anyone associated with the Kuomintang should be guilty of such conduct? All of youfellow-comrades must be well acquainted with the history of China. In olden times then Ngok Fei overcame the Army of Kam at the front Tsan Kwui at the rear became jealous of him; andthough he himself had received bribes from the anany and made terms with

them
