Meeting then came to an end. Processions were held on
5th and 6th instant.
A further meeting was held on 8th instant about five
hundred being present.-
Chairman said:- We have asked the various guilds in Hong Kong to send two representatives to attend this meeting with the object of discussing the reorganization of the Hong Kong Labour Union with the idea of obtaining closer labour union in Hong Kong. Meeting agreed that Head Labour Union should be reorganized under new name. Sub-committee appointed to go
into matter.
Chairran then addressed meeting on subject of Whampoa
Dock scheme. Said Canton must have modern shipping port in order to make themselves independent of Hong Kong. He appealed to those present to do everything in their power to support the scheme by purchasing shares etc.
WONG KAM YUEN said:-
Our trouble against British Imperialism has been going on now for some considerable time. Matters have not yet been
brought to a final conclusion. You gentlemen from Hong Kong
must keep yourselves acquainted with our ideas and objects.
Up to now you have been in the rear of the fight but we sincere-
ly hope that you will be in the front in the near future. The
time is coming when Hong Kong will be subject to our control
and it is up to you to assist in bringing this about.
Let us all stand and solemnly declare as follows:-
All Hong Kong labour united together declare we will smash
up British Imperialiam and will never rest content until we
have driven the British from Hong Kong.
