I have the honour to confirm my telegram of the 21st January, and in continuation of my secret despatch of the 14th January to forward the following

documents relating to the situation in Hong Kong and

South China:-

Enclo. No. (a) A copy of a report from the Hong Kong General

Chamber of Commerce for the week ending the 15th January.

Enclo. No. 2b) A precis translation of a report from the Hong Kong

Chinese Chamber of Commerce for the same period.

Enclo 1o. c) A translation of a speech delivered at Hankow by

Mr. Sun Fo, and published in the Man Kwok Yat Po, Canton,

of the 7th January.

No. 4 (d) A comparative table showing the revenue for the

collection of which legal pressure had to be applied by this Government in the years 1922-1926.

(e) An extract from a report by the Assistant Superin- tendent of Police, New Territories, dated the 16th January regarding an arrest in British waters and subsequent execution of the prisoner.
