Now, comrades, if you support he Nationalist Government, then ve will go ahead and solve the foreign relations problem, that is, So make China independent of foreign imperialism. Are going to support us? (Loud cheers).

No nation has ever started on the highway of progress and pros- perity, no nation has ever become great until freed from foreign imperialism and oppression. So it was with all countries. There is no way for China to free herself except by first abolishing the Unequal Treaties.
"CHARTER OF SLAVERY."
But, comrades, the Unequal Treaties, this charter of slavery have come down from a corrupt, degraded and prostituted dynasty. We have inherited this charter of slavery. And how, comrades, are we going to destroy it? Have you thought of that?
This charter of slavery is responsible for one-half of the poverty of China; for one-half of the poverty of the merchants (ninety-nine per cent. of the mer- chants are poor) for the poverty of the workers who are all poor; for the poverty of our finance. How, comrades, are we going to abolish this charter of slavery?
On the question of the aboli- tion of the charter of slavery there are no classes, no groups. There is a nation. On the question of

abolishing this charter of slavery, comrades, we must unite and secure independence as soon possible, even as it was bequeath- ed to us by our leader Dr. Sun Yat-sen.
THE LAND PROBLEM.
Another great problem on which the workers, merchants and bankers can unite is the land question. If we have poor farmers industry is poor, if the industry is poor the workers are poor, if the workers are poor, all are poor.
Our farmers constitute three hun- dred million people, and if these three hundred millions have hard- ly enough to eat how can you mer- chants expect any buying power of them? Three hundred million people! This is the buying power of the nation. Make these three hundred million the foundation of industry, commerce and labour, and then we will all be happy.
Therefore, comrades, labour, trade, industry and finance are vitally interested in making the Nationalist Government solve the land question, in order to estab- lish these three hundred million as the basis of trade, industry and înance. Do you support the Na- tionalist Government on this point or do you not?
ONE WAY.
Now, again, I am asking you, how are we going to secure the abolition of the charter of foreign slavery? There is only one way. To unite behind the National overnment. We must not allow ourselves to be fooled by the sweet But words of the imperialists. leave it to the Nationalist Govern- ment. They won't be fooled. They were not fooled in Canton, and they won't be fooled in Wu-
han.
They will go about their business in the best way, and you revolutionary people will be on
hand to see that the Nationalist
Government does the right thing.
