MARBLE H

HALL.

"Marble Hall", the Hong Kong residence of the late Sir Paul Chater occupies an ideal position on the hillside (south of Conduit Road) some 500 feet above sea level and commands some of the best views of the Harbour and Kowloon. Within easy access from the City it stands in its own grounds of about 2 acres which are attractively laid out and possess excellent vistas along paths bordered by shrubs and plants of tropical

and sub-tropical nature.

2. It is raised 8' 0" above the general level of the ground on a lofty basement and the whole of the external walls are of stuccoed brickwork finished in the Classic Style through which runs a strong Jacobean tendency and the whole is of good execution and constructionally sound.

3. Built on an adapted European plan it has wide verandahs on the North, East and West sides.

4. A spacious Lounge Hall some 55' 0" long by 24' 0" wide is terminated by the main staircase which is of monumental design executed in polished Italian marble.

5. Flanking the Hall are the Drawing and Card Rooms both of which are 37' 0" X 24' 0" whilst a 10' 0" wide corridor gives access to the Dining and Billiard rooms and the side entrance Vestibule. The former two rooms being 37' 0" X 24' 0" and the vestibule 12' 10" X 11' 0", the whole giving a symetrical plan. The internal treatment is in keeping with the architectural motif governing the exterior.

6. On the first floor the plan follows that of the ground floor and opening off a spacious landing of similar dimensions to the Hall below, are four Bedrooms each 37' on

X 24' 0" each having its own Bathroom all of which are fitted in best European style with lavatory basins and flush
