The Victoria Nursing Division.
The
The Victoria Nursing Division was formed in 1916 from members of the Staff and pupils of the senior classes of Belilios Public School: it is one section of the S. John Ambulance Association. There are twenty-two members, and its object is to assist in cases of local emergency. Division is on duty at public functions, such as the Prince of Wales' visit in the past. In 1922 it helped at the Peak Hospital, and in 1926 worked at the Bowen Road Military Hospital. At the Annual Inspection of the S. John Ambu- lance Brigade by His Excellency the Governor, the V.N.D., under the supervision of the Lady Divisional Superintendent, Mrs. Hickling, and the Divisional Surgeon, Mrs. Minett, takes charge of the “accident" cases brought in. In April
of this year the Division carried out 124 vaccinations, some of its members having been appointed Public Vaccinators by His Excellency the Governor. Miss Heang was the Secretary of the Division when it was in its first stages, and is now Nursing Officer.
During the year lectures in First Aid and Home Nursing are given by the Medical Officer for Schools; ten members sat for the First Aid and Home Nursing Examinations in 1926 and all passed.
