No. 81.

sir.

British Consulate,

Shiras.

5th May, 1926.

In continuation of my despatches Nos. 15 of March

14th and 17 of March 23rd I have the honour to transmit

for your information notes of conversations today with Mr. Haji

Muhannad Namazi, son of Haji Muhammad Hasan Harazi of Hongkong

regarding the opium trade, and a claim in that connection.

2. Pointe of particular interest are hie statement, which

goes to confirm my previous information and which you may find

all the more satisfactory in view of your personal warning to

his father in April 1925, that neither le ji Muhammad Hasan

Nemezi himself nor his firm in Hongkong have had any dealings

in opium in 1926 and 1:26: his statement that his brother's firm

"A. Nemüsee and Co" in Bombay has since been dealing in opium

from India: and the emphasis which he laid on the suspicion

being prevalent in Persia that Great Britain is working for the

elimination of Persian opium from the Far Eastern market in orde

to give a fillip to the Indian opium export.

I have eto.,

Sir F.L. Loraine, Bart., K.C M.G.,

His Majesty's Minister,

etc.,

etc..

etc..

Tehran.
