I am directed by Secretary Sir William Joynson Hicks to refer to your letter 34200/25 of 4th August, 1925, and

previous correspondence with regard to the suspected

transactions in opium of Mr. Saito, a member of the

Japanese Diet, and to enclose for the information of Ir.

Secretary Amery, a copy of a despatch from His Majesty's

representative at Tokyo, and its enclosures. It will be

observed that a copy of the despatch was sent direct from

Tokyo to Hongkong.

Sir William Joynson Hicks presumes

that word will be received shortly from the Governor of

Hongkong if he has any observations to make or any further

information to give.
