It is also proposed to write to

the Admiralty saying that in the light of

what was said at the meeting, the Secretary

of State agrees that in existing circumstances,

no useful purpose would be served at this

juncture by pursuing the suggestion that

additional armed launches should be

provided for service in the Canton Delta, and

that the Secretary of State does not propose

to press the late Governor's suggestion that

that part of the cost of running the launches which

was borne by the Colonial Government, should

be refunded by the Admiralty.
