This photograph was taken from Shakee Street. B is the Britisa (West) Bridge, where the Consul-General was standing. W is Watson's shop. V is the Victoria Hotel. The Creek, about 150 feet wide, separates the buildings from Shakee Street, which is about 30 yards wide. The Chinese troops extended along the iront of the British Concession, as indicated by the arrow, when they began the attack on Shameen.
