With reference to your letter of the 28th
November, 1925. No. 8.24154/5.6, and subsequent
correspondence with regard to the provision of an Air
Base at Hong Kong, I am directed by Hr. Secretary
Amery to transmit to you, to be laid before the Air
h februari· Council, the accompanying copies of two despatches

from the Governor of Hong Kong on the subject of the
defence of the Colony against attack from overseas.
2. It is understood that in accordance with the
decision of the 27th meeting of the Chiefs of Staff
Sub-Committee, the whole question of the defence of
Hong Kong will be examined in the first place by a Sub-
Committee of the Staffs of the three Services. Kr.
Amery would, therefore, be glad if the Committee would
consider at the same time Sir C. Clementi's despatches
which are enclosed in this letter.
