Bir,

With reference to the letter from this

Department of the 10th December, 1925, and subsequent

correspondence with regard to the provision of an Air

Base at Hong Kong, I am directed by Mr. Secretary Amery

to transmit to you, to be laid before the Army

Council, the accompanying copies of two despatches

from the Governor of Hong Kong on the subject of the

defence of the Colony against attack from overseas.

2. It is understood that in accordance with the

decision of the 27th meeting of the Chiefs of Staff

Sub-Committee, the whole question of the defence of

Hong Kong will be examined in the first place by a Sub-

Committee of the Staffs of the three Services.

Hr.

Amery would, therefore, be glad if the Committee would

consider at the same time Sir C. Clementi's despatches

which are enclosed in this letter.
