stated that the pirates were not all acquainted with each other

but were collected together by several sub-leaders.

Three revolvers used

in above piracy were recovered by Commander "ONG TUK CNY in

his operations and returned to the longkong Police. Later

Com ander TONG 7 CHI carried out a raid at FIG SIAN 23 Ε

result of which 5 men believed to be pirates were shot.

5.S. NING SIKJARA

Shanghai-Foochow run was pirated at approx;

3 P.. on the 3rd October, 1924, one day out of Shanghai while

on a voyage from Shanghai to Foochow. The ship was carrying

30 cases of silver bars consigned to the American Oriental

Fank, Focchow, value approx: 97,000 taels. 34 pirates boarded

the ship at Shanghai es passengers. About 250 Chinese passen-

cers were on board. One quartermaster was killed and one

sailor rounded. The ship was taken to a place off TREE POINT,

Fias Bay where sampans came alongside. The pirates then discharged

the silver and other cergo, together with the loot taken

from the passengers, into the sampans which then made for

SUN LIU. The pirates who were armed with revolvers presumably

amuggled their arms on board at Shanghai. They came from the

TI SHAN and FAN 10 KONG districte. Communication was at once

made with General IP LUI at Waichau who sent an expedition

to E! SHA under a commender named YUNG FAI TING. It was later

reported on fairly good authority that this commander succeeded
