I am directed by Mr. Secretary Amery to acknow-
ledge the receipt of your letter No. F.2173/8/10 of the
3rd June enclosing the draft of a telegram which it is
proposed to address to His Majesty's Minister at Peking
on the subject qf the suggested allocation to the Canton
Government of the proceeds of the Washington surtaxes
collected in Kwangtung -

I am to request you to inform Secretary Sir
Austen Chamberlain that Mr. Amery has no objection to
the despatch of the telegram proposed, and to mak that
he may be informed as soon as possible of the number and
date of the telegram, when sent, in order that he may
communicate with the Governor of Hong Kong by telegraph.
