With referenés to your despatch No. 1 of the 9th
January respecting the validity after marr、nge of a passport
issued to en unmarried women, I am directed by deeretary
fir Auste Chamberlain to state that any pa.#port issued to
a women in her moiden name clearly mases to be valid upon
her marriage since her name and status næe changed by much
marriage.

her married nam, or else arrange to be included upon har
husband's passport.
3. In the particular case of Krs. Hudspeth, you should,
therefore, ret zin the passport issued in the name of Miss
Ankers. If, however, she decides to take out a new
paenport in her own name, or to be included on her husband'a
pasaport, you are eatheri and to retum it to her, after
proper asteellation, should she no wish,
