New Telephone System.
Referring to my letter of the 23rd ultimo.
I now enclose the Specification together with General Conditions of Contrect covering the two Automatic equipments for the Central and Kowloon Exchanges proposed in my report.
In view of the decision arrived at at the meeting at Government House yesterday the introduction of e new system is apparently not likely to be proceeded with for some time to come. This document may, however,
be useful to you at a later date, and I would therefore suggest that the drawings and statements required to complete it be prepared as time permits.
In connection with the initial cut-over to the' new system I appreciate that many difficulties will be experienced, particularly in clearing the necessary number of manual positions for call-indicator junction working. I feel sure, however, that with careful preparation beforehand, the methods which you propose to adopt, and which we have discussed together will achieve the desired end with a minimum of inconvenience
to the Subscribers.
