Article 379 K.H. is as follows :-
The following when fully qualified, and, in the opinion
of the Captain, fit for advancement, will be advanced by the Captain to the next higher rating, irrespective of vacancies :-

3. During his period of loan, a rating's name will be retained on the roster or rosters at-his Royal Navy Port Division, and, if he reaches his turn for advance- ment on that roster during his loan to the Royal Australian Navy, he will be advanced, provided he is qualified and recommended; his advancement being duly notified to the Australian authorities, so that he may receive the higher pay, etc., of his new rating. (The higher pay is hot, however, payable in cases where promotion from the Port Division roster involves immediate return to the Royal Navy). No reversion will take place on return to the Royal Navy.

Where a rating, while serving in the Royal Australian Navy, is advanced to a higher rating to fill a local vacancy, and not in accordance with his Port Division roster, the fact will be noted on his Certificate of Service in the column headed "Special recommendations,
c." at the bottom of page 2..and he will receive the higher pay while holding such higher rating in the Royal Australian Navy; but such person will revert to his former rating on his return to the Royal Navy, in the event of his turn for advancement on his Port Division roster not having arrived prior to complation of his engagement in the Royal Australian Navy. local rating will be relinquished on embarkation for
The passage to the United Kingdom on reversion, and in the Case of ratings discharged from H.L.A. Ships in England will not be retained during period of Foreign Service Leave preceding reversion.
