Mr. King,
Sir,
81
Macau:-
I have received the following information from
(1) After the blockade of Hong Kong was lifted the Canton Government arraged the gradual withdrawal of the picquets on the Portuguese and British frontiers.(Chang Sha, Ching San). To supervise the withdrawal several
Russians were sent from Canton. 5 of these Russian
instructors went to Macau by boat but were deported by Police on the day after their arrival.
(2) Hany Russians have arrived at Canton from Vladivostok
and white Russians in Canton report that they recognise many of them as former naval seamen and labourers from
the Vladivostok district.
(3) Placards and unofficial pamphlets posted and distribut-
ed in Canton state "Though now there is peace between Hong Kong and Canton, it behoves all Chinese people to look after themselves and in case of infraction of the independence and freedom of the people by the Imperialists, they (the Chinese) should teach the Imperialists a lesson."
All now depends on Chang Kai Shek, if he could take Shanghai then the whole Chinese nation will rise up
against foreigners.
(4) The French concession in Shanghai is now well protected
by barbed wire barriers.
(5) Chinan Fu is the headquarters of the White Russians (ex
Tsang Tao Lin's) troops. They have recently received orders to mobolise and prepare to move; by General Chang Teung Chang. It is the opinion of Chinese that a
lot depends on these Russian troops who have been nick! named the "Russian Lions".
