Extract from Wa Taz Yat Po, Hong Kong, 29th October,1926.
Time appointed for discussion of arrangements
for forming pickets to make enquiries as to
British goods.
Yesterday the British Goods Enquiry Commission
sent a letter to the Canton Municipal Chamber of
Commerce, which reads as follows:-
"At our first meeting held on the 24th inst. it has been resolved that your Chamber shall elect
a member to be Picket Commander. It has also been
fixee that a meeting of Picket Commanders shall be held on Thursday the 28th inst. to discuss arrange- ments for forming pickets. We hope that your will elect a member and send him when the time comes to
attend the meeting at the Merchants' Co-operative Association. The matter is very urgent and we beg
you will not neglect it."
From another Correspondent. Yesterday the British Goods Enquiry Commission met for the 1st meeting, and resolutions were made as to various arrangements for sending investigators to make enquiries into British goods. We learn that they resolutions they made are as follows:-
The responsible members who were present at the meeting, are Leung Shu Fan, of the Hunicipal Merchants' Co-operative Association, Lo Chan of the Engineers Association, Ng Kwai Wa of the Canton Foreign Employees' Association, Lai King Kin of the Canton Merchants' Co- operative Association and Ma Wan Piu of the Hong K ̧ng General Labour Association.
(a) An announcement was made in respect of (1) the organization of pickets and their work and (2) of matters to which pickets should pay attention.
