With reference to the 2nd paragraph of
my secret despatch of the 9th October, I have the honour to for.urd copy of a statoment made on the 26th October, to Sir Shouson Chou and Dr. Kotewall by Kr. Lum Jun- Sheung (confidential secretary of General Mgai Pong-p'eng. The information previously given to me by the Hong Kong Police that General ai arrived here on the 5th October from Shanghai proved to be incorrect. General Ngai did not come to Hong Kong at that time and he is now in Shanghai.

As regards the information given by Mr.
Lun concerning Courade Karakhan's secret visit to Canton,
I have the honour to refer you to the 5th paragraph of
my secret despatch (2) of the 30th September which was
based upon a telegram from Sir S. Barton, His Lajesty's
Consul-General at Shanghai. Mr. J.J. Brenan, Mis Liajesty's Consul-General at Canton, does not believe that Comrade Karakhan did in fact visit Canton.
