Kwong-mong again challenged the Canton Government in the middle of Soptember, 1925, and during that month his forces occupiod most of the province cast and south of the East River, including Srator. But carly in October General Tscung Kai-shek distinguished himself a third time by clearing the encmios of his Government out of the Shok-lung (2) arca. On the 21st October he captured Wai-chow, which thus como under the control of Canton for the first time sinco February, 1923. By the end of October ho was at Svatov and during Novenbor ho finally drove General Ch'an's troops out of the provinco. Ho thon returned to Canton stronger than ever.
Another readjustment in the Canton Sovict took place on the 19th March, 1926, when Comrade Wong Iseng-vai was cxpolled by General Tsoung Kai-shok, and yet another on the 1st June last, when Comrade C.C. Wu vas also driven out and replaced by Comrade Jugono Ch'an (1). But those changes have only sorvod to emphasizo both the growing strongth of Bolshovik influenco over the Canton Govermont, thanks to liberal importation of arms, amunition, mon and money from Vladivostok, and also the increasing power of General Tscung Kai-shok, who before his
departure on the campaign through Hunan to the Yangtszo
vas virtually dictator in Kuang-tung. Wu Hon-man paid a brief visit to Canton on the 29th April; but, finding conditions not at all to his likin,, ho again
loft the province on the 9th May.
