On the other hand, the more probable interpretation of the paragraph would appear to be that retirement "with effect from 1st February inclusive" should in future be taken to mean that 1st February is the last day of service and 2nd February the first day of pension.
I propose for the present to avoid any possible ambiguities by using phrases such as "The first day of pension will be
