Marshal Wong Chun and Premier Kan (Wan Ngok) came here, and from them I understand your great projects and noble schemes and your excellent arrangements for the salvation of the country and the punishment of the Reds. Your patriotism has been openly expressed, and is clear to all. I admire you very much at sight of your flags at a distance. Each of us has the same object though we are apart from each other by thousands of miles. Now the power of the Reds is ever growing, and circumstances change thousands of times in the twinkling of an eye, like white clouds changing their shapes into different forms of black dogs. We cannot survive the present crisis without unity of mind and
strength, nor can we maintain our position without frankness and
firm union. I will follow you and pursue our work with all my power. I think only of China not of profit or loss. I will not
hesitate to make any sacrifice. My mind is as honest as clear
water, and I hope you will listen to my words. Some time ago
I often advised my elder brother Yuk (Wa Pei-fu) that the Reds
should be exterminated without delay. He did not take my advice,
and his tolerance has led to the present trouble. We should take
warning from his fate and should both exert ourselves to adhieve
our object of pacifying Hu-peh. The position is like a weight of
thousands of catties hanging on a hair, and we should not lose
our opportunity. I shall also be glad of frequent information
as to the situation at the front and your recent arrangements for
ooping with the enemy.
