GOVERNMENT HOUSE.
HONGKONG, ---
11th September, 1926.
C.19547
18 CCT 1926
reference to the 3rd paragraph
my secret despatch of the 9th September, I
enclose translation of a very interesting let- ter addressed by Marshal Sun Ch'uan-fang to General Cheung Kai-shek and published in the Wa Toz Yat Po at Hong Kong on the 31st August.
It was a clear intimation that, unless General
Cheung renounces communism and gets rid of his Russian advisers, he would be attacked by Mar- shal Sun.

The Wa Tsz Yet Po also reported on
the 31st August that arshal Sun had a discus- sion with General Chau Yam-yan (AMA), the
Luman of Fukien, as the result of which an order
was given to the latter to defend Cheung-chau ( 4 ) and Amoy with 30,000 men. It was further decided that the Foochow squadron would
not be transferred elsewhere.
