Adverting to my confidential despatch of 10th May, 1926, which conveyed some explanation of a supplementary vote, No. 19 of 1926 for $200,000, under

the head Miscellaneous Services, Other Miscellaneous

Services, I have the honour to address you further on the subject of Propaganda, for which one-half of the above

sun was intended. I should premise that in the 1926

Estimates a sum of $55,000 was inserted under the above mentioned sub-head, the majority of which was intended for Propaganda. It therefore follows that provision of some $150,000 has been made for work during 1926.

No action is being taken by this Goverment conflicting with the obligations of the Treaty with Russia, to which you referred in your telegram of 2nd April, 1926, as regards propaganda directed against the Russian Soviet.

But in this connection I have the honour to refer you to

my secret despatch dated 1st June, 1926, to which I have

as yet received no reply The actual steps taken in 1925

during the full heat of the Strike are described in

paragraphs 53 to 65 of Dr. K.fi. Kotewall's report dated

24th October, 1925, which forms the enclosure to my
