492
With reference to my despatch No.347 dated
29th July, 1926, concerning the appointment of officers to fill the proposed posts of Deputy Harbour Master and Assistant Harbour Master, I have the honour to forward application fome submitted by Lieutenant Commander H. C. Millett, R.N. rtd., for the post of Deputy Harbour Master.
2. I am of opinion that while Lieutenant Commander Millett is a desirable candidate, and his experience in a Mercantile Shipping Company would be of use to the Harbour Office, the appointment of Lieutenant Commander Yonge, R.N., would be the more suitable method of filling the new appoint- ment if it is approved.
3.
With reference to paragraph 8 of my despatch referred to above I venture to repeat, in view of this further application, that, should you decide that an Assistant Harbour Master alone can be appointed, I am of opinion that
a mercantile marine officer with a commission in the Royal Naval Reserve should be appointed.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient humble servant,
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

LIEUTENANT COLONEL L.C.M.8. AMERY, M.P.,
