Four years ago there was hardly such a motor boat to be found, whereas at present there are seventy-two motor boats so licensed. With the general increase of all craft in the Harbour it is essential that this examination should be maintained at a high standard and that and accident afloat should be fully enquired into by a Senior Officer.

The Hon; Captain Superintendent of Police has made application for the Assistant Harbour Master to resume a course of instruction (dropped owing to pre saure of work i. this Department) to the European Staff of the Water Police. Although being the first to acknowledge that such instruction is desirable and closer co-operation with the Water Police necessary I have been forced with the greatest regret to reply that the Assistant harbour Master has not the time to spare.
