I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
of your Circular Despatch of the 29th September 1925 with regard to the emolumenta and expenses of the Governor of Hong Kong and of the Colonial Secretary. An extract from the 1926 Estimates showing the provision made under the heading Governor is enclosed for convenience of reference.
The salary of the Governor is £4,800 per

annum, paid at privileged rates of exchange while in the Colony in accordance with General Order 101 a copy of which is enclosed. At present the rate is $12 to the pound.
There is also attached to the post an Entertainment Allowance of £1,200 per annum, payable at the same privileged rates as the salary.

There are two official residences for the
use of the Governor, Government House and Mountain Lodge,
The structures and furniture of these are maintained by the Public Works Department, and the grounds by the Botanical and Forestry Department at the public charge. All telephones are maintained from revenue and no expense is incurred for water.
