RECEIVED
Colonial Office
COL.OFFION
With reference to your minute of the 17th May
I attach a copy of our letter of the 25th January
last referred to in the Governor's despatch No. 141
dated the 26th March 1926.
We cannot trace that we have had any,»
official written instructions from the Colonial
Office in the matter. It was pointed out to
us by your Department, semi-officially, in November
1924, apparently in connection with the printing
•
of a form used in our Appointments Department.
Further reference was made to it on the 15th December
1925, when, in answer to a verbal enquiry, you
informed us that notwithstanding the new form adopted (1.e. Hongkong), you were continuing to use the
abbreviation "H.K.". We notice that in the last
revise of the Ordinances 1844-1923 "Hongkong" is
used both in the title and the text.
Will you please let us know what is decided?
Your file of papers is returned herewith,
