Chang Tso-lin himself thought that the struggle wa hopeless and was ready to run away. Suddenly after the battle on December 23rd at Sin-min, Kuo Sung-lin's whole army was completely defeated and Kuo and his wife executed. It was really an unexpected victory for Chang.
