(4) West Africa. Nigeria and the Camercons
are kiable to isolation if their cable
is out. To obviate this, it is
recommended to build a station in the
neighbourhood of Lagos, with an
effective range of 2200 miles. Such
a station would link up with Gibraltar,
Aden, Nairobi (see para. (6) below)
and South Africa.
(5) Mauritius. The plant of this station was
partially dismantled before it was
transferred to the local Government,
who are only operating a low power
sat in the Naval buildings. It would
take at least 9 months to get the
station in working order again.

can be accepted in view of the strategic
importance of the site, and it is
therefore recommended that the station
should be re-opened and modemized.
In the opinion of the Colonial
Office any proposal by the Admiralty to
resume control of the station and
bring it up to date would be welcomed.
(6) British East Africa. For similar reasons to
those obtaining in West Africa, it is
recommended to erect a station at
Nairobi of 2,200 range. Such a station
would work Aden, Lagos and South Africa.
