Port Nolloth. The necessity of the Port Nolloth
station is not so urgent since the S.African
Government have recently opened a station at Calfis Bay which, though of low power, has a
good range to the northward by reason of its
site.
St. Johns. The Canadian Government are being
consulted as to whether any medium power
station in Canadian territory would be
available in war time to meet certain
specified Naval needs. It is thought that
a station now building at Halifax might be
suitable and if guarantees can be given by
the Canadian Government for necessary
service in emergency, it is proposed to
close and sell the St. Johns / Station.
Failing such guarantees, this station should
be modernised and maintained as proposed for
Bermuda and Jamaica.

Bathurst.
In view of the strategic isolation of
the Gambia river colony, it is for considera-
tion whether the medium power Naval station,
now partially dismantled, could be abandoned
if the station proposed for Nigeria
materialised, but in any case it is consider-
ed that a F/T set of low power should be
installed in the buildings for ship and
shore work and communication with Sierra
Leone; similarly Sierra Leone should be in
T/T touch with the Gold Coast and the Gold
Coast with Lagos, these low power sets being
worked by the local governmenta,
