I am directed by the Board of Trade to advert to previous correspondence relating to the tramit duos which are imposed on goods passing through French Indo-China and more particularly to the letter from this Department of the 4th February last and to your letter (io.1,5068/275/17) of the 8th June forwarding a despatch on the subject from H.B.M. Antlig Consul-General at Saigon.

The Board note that Ar. Frumond Hogg finds it difficult to advance in support of the view that the Indo-Chinese transit duties should be abolished or very much reduced a.y argwioita other than those which have already appeared in the sorrespondence on this subject extending over the laat for years. In these elrowmstances and with a view to avoiding further delay in bringing the matter to a satisfactory issue the board of Trade have had a laxorandus of the case against the present transit regise în French Indo-China prepared from the materials which are insecilately available in this
