23rd March, 1925.
Sir,
I am directed by Mr. Secretary Chamberlain
to transmit to you, herewith copies of letters
from Mesare. John Swire and Sons Limited and
Messrs. Matheson and Company Limited drawing
attention to the Minority Report, dated January,
1925, of the recent Hongkong Anti-Piracy Commission.
2.
I am to enquire whether the Secretary of State for the Colonies would see any objection
to the communication to these firms of copies
of the report of the Inter-Departmental Conference on piracy held at the Colonial Office
last year,
which has already been communicated
to the China Association, in order to show that
the question of piracy in waters adjacent to Hongkong, to which they allude, has been care-
fully considered in London.
3. A copy of a letter to the Admiralty dealing
with the further question of additional pro- tection against piracy on the Yangtze and the China coast generally is transmitted, herewith.
I am,
The Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Office.

Your obedient Servant,
