The courge of the negotiations to nettle this strike up to the date, 12th suguat, when the strike was “officially " settled has already been reported. There is no doubt that the strike Leaders and such of the strikera sa were able to get any information at all were deliberately mislead into thinking that the Police would be reinstated and also that all the other

During the next three days attempted negotiations brought no result except an impertiment letter from the Foreign Consiлsion-
er which the Congul Generals refused to accept.
As obstacles were always put in the way of the Consul Generals obtaining an interview with Dr. Sun I suggested that
I should take them down in my motorboat and if necessary demand
an interview, A short note was sent to Jun stating the Consul
General intention to call on him on the morning of August,
